Am I Mad?
A mate sent me a URL the other day, to a site which holds an annual "competition" to write a 50,000 word novel in one month. I thought it sounded crazy, but the more I read about it the more the idea appealed to me.
I decided that I was going to join in - so I’ve signed up to write my novel, along with everyone else, in November.
I’ve never written anything near that long before, and there’s a strict deadline to reach the wordcount in order to succeed. There’s no prize for getting there, no literary evaluation, just the satisfaction of having taken on a herculean (if somewhat stupid) task and coming out on top.
There’s a pretty decent chance I won’t make it, but it’ll be fun trying. At least, I hope it will. One thing’s for sure - you can almost guarentee that I won’t be letting anyone read the finished product. Unless I discover some unknown reserve of talent, and manage to produce something that can be edited and revised into something I’m happy with, it’ll just be something I’ve done for myself. That’s enough for me, though.

Big News!
Well, lots of things have been happening in our lives at the moment, but the big news which we’ve held off on annoucing until it was finalised is that we’ve bought a house.
It’s not quite a house, but a villa unit actually. Here we are looking very pleased with ourselves while standing in the rain after putting on the sold sticker.
