Holidays

Posted in Photos, Life, Family, Books by Felius on the January 3rd, 2007

I had a week off work between Christmas and the New Year - well, ten consecutive days if you count weekends. It was a fun but fairly hectic time, with lots of family outings and general daddy-type activity. Coming back to work I realised that my break was several weeks too short, and given that a recent ban on taking leave has been lifted (due to a delay in commissioning a new data centre) I decided to try and organise some more time off. Now’s probably the best chance I’ll get for the next few months, so I’m taking two weeks off starting Monday!

I expect I’ll spend most of it running around doing family things, reading, going for long walks.. and maybe finding the time to gain a few levels in WoW. ;) Hopefully I’ll get my camera out more often, as I haven’t found much time to do that lately either.

I did take a couple of photos over Christmas:

Someone needs a haircut.. Red Bow on Door Future Godfather?

You can see more in the Flickr album. I wish I’d taken the camera around with me a bit more, but mostly we were visiting places (such as the Taste of Tasmania and Salamanca Market) where I wouldn’t want to have to worry about keeping track of the camera at the same time as the kids.

I’ve been reading: It’s a long time since I wrote any kind of update on what I’ve been reading, but the list for the past month looks a bit like this:

I Know You Got Soul (Jeremy Clarkson)
The World According to Clarkson (Jeremy Clarkson)
Metro Girl (Janet Evanovich)
Interview With The Vampire (Anne Rice)
The Earthsea Quartet (Ursula Le Guin)

I noticed just before posting this that I’ve missed a month! I’ve mostly only been managing one post a month anyway, but it’s the first time I’ve missed one completely since I restarted the blog in March 2005. It’s not that I have nothing to say, just that I’ve had some difficulty in figuring out how to say it. Or in motivating myself to start. ;)

I have three drafts in the queue, but I wonder if I’ll ever bother finishing them off. One of them is almost a year old (written in January 2006) and documents a camping trip to Arthur’s Lake with my Dad in October 2005!
